ROANOKE VALLEY MOPAR CLUB

For Lovers of Classic and Modern Mopars.

History...  We are the Roanoke Valley Mopar Club (RVMC).  We are an organization, formed on July 18, 1987, centered on the appreciation, preservation, and restoration of Chrysler Corporation (Mopar) vehicles. This includes all Mopar vehicles - antiques, classics, muscle cars, sports cars, sport utility types, trucks, and current models. It also includes vehicles manufactured by companies that are or were owned/associated with Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, such as AMC, Jeep, and Mitsubishi manufactured Chrysler brands (Plymouth Laser, Eagle Talon, etc.). The RVMC is made up of enthusiastic people in the Roanoke Valley area who share a common interest in these various types of Mopar vehicles.

We at the RVMC are the second oldest car club in the Roanoke Valley second only to the AACA.  Our first meeting was in the parking lot of the Thunderbird Club on Williamson Rd.  It was held in the parking lot because even though we had talked to them about us meeting there they didn't tell us that the club was going to be closed for vacation so we had it in the parking lot there were 9 people at that meeting that night and 3 of those 9 are still members.  One of those members has only missed 1 meeting in all these years and that was because of a miscommunication.  In the past 25 years, we have had 9 presidents and 6 different meeting places and are currently being held at the Famous Anthony's on Williamson Rd. in Roanoke.

In 1987 we began hosting all-Mopar shows and in 1989 we even hosted the National Hemi Owners Association national meeting.  We have had our Mopar shows in 5 places and will be held at the Salem Civic Center this year.

We have won a few awards along the years you can see those on our awards page.  We have also participated in the annual MDA Car Show that is held each March for the past 15 years, and we have been a part of the annual Star City Motor Madness every year since its inception.

We have helped raise thousands of dollars for various charities including the Virginia Museum of Transportation's Automobile Gallery, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and others.

Activities...  RVMC holds regular monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at Frank's on Brambleton Ave. Roanoke, VA.  Dinner is at 6:30 and the meeting begins at 7:30.  These meetings provide everyone the opportunity to share ideas, help plan RVMC outings, and communicate about Mopars with fellow Mopar enthusiasts.  Some meetings have special presentations by members and/or non-members on subjects of interests.  There are normally four or five RVMC outings per year in addition to our annual car show.  An outing might be a cruise, a picnic, or simply a tour down the parkway to enjoy our vehicles.  The RVMC sponsors one major car show each year.  This is a Mopar Only judged show, usually attracting 120 or more vehicles.  RVMC also participates in the Advance Auto Pit Stop Cruise In by parking cars and assisting as needed at the concession stand, setup, clean up and special attractions.

Communications...  In addition to the regular monthly meetings we also publish a monthly newsletter, Points 'n Plugs, to keep all members informed of RVMC activities, special events in the lives of fellow members, upcoming Mopar related events of interests that members may want to attend, and other general information.  The newsletter also contains an ad section with autos for sale, parts for sale and autos/parts wanted categories for members to use when buying or selling their personal autos and parts.

Come Join Us...  If you appreciate and enjoy Mopar vehicles, please feel free to attend any regular monthly meeting to become better acquainted with us. If you decide to become a member, that's great - we're always glad to welcome new members who share an appreciation for Mopar products.  That's all that is necessary - an interest an appreciation of Mopars.

You do not have to own a Mopar vehicle to be a member; however there is a minimum age of 16 years.  Any single membership automatically includes the person's spouse/significant other.  There are two levels of membership available, Associate and Full.  For full membership details click on the 'Membership Information' link above.
